Latest Adventures and Searching for the Good Light

“Our Trip to the Northeast”

This trip was in the making several months out. Our primary destination was Oak n Spruce near The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Along the way, our first stop was Babcock State Park and Sandstone Falls in West Virginia. A beautiful area where the grist mill was our main subject of interest. From there we toured The New River Gorge Bridge at sunset. Our next destination was Paterson Falls, New Jersey. The pedestrian bridge made for a perfect frame for the falls in the background. After arriving at Oak n Spruce we headed out to search local areas to capture the autumn colors around Clarks Pond. We took a day and ended up in Vermont where we saw Bennington Battle Monument. Standing 306 ft, in height we took an elevator to the observation deck 199 ft up where you can see three states, Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts. This monument commemorates the American Revolutionary War, The Battle of Bennington. Wanting to capture lighthouses our adventure to us to the coast of Massachusetts. We photographed Motif # 1 in Rockport and the Straitsmouth, Cape Ann, and East Point Lighthouses. Heading home we toured the Albany Institute of Art and History, photographed the Capital, and took in the sights around Cumberland. Headed south our next stop was Lancaster Pennsylvania. We photographed the Amish countryside with covered bridges and the train museum at Strasburg, Pa. Getting closer to home along the Blue Ridge Parkway we stopped to see Mabry Mill, Pucketts Cabin, and Brinegar Cabin. 3250 miles and eleven states in seven days provided beautiful images to record our trip. We were blessed with good weather and ate great food along the way. These images and more can be seen in the Gallery, Northeast Travels 2022. Capturing Wildlife at the West Point Dam

Starting the day before sunrise arriving at the dam before the otters started to play and the birds started looking for their breakfast, I had a fantastic time capturing the beauty of nature at West Point Dam. The early morning light provided the perfect backdrop for photographing eagles, otters, and cormorants, adding to my photography collection. The cormorants were busy catching catfish and the eagles soared above looking for their opportunity to catch their own and the otters dined on sunfish. As many as twenty eagles filled the trees with a family of otters checking me out. The cormorants were fighting over fish and swallowing them whole with some fish being bigger than them.
